Global Kindle Vs. Kindle DX

The Differences:

The most obvious difference between these two digital reading gadgets available to buy at this time is that one only works in the United States while the “Global Kindle” works in countries around the globe. Obviously if you make your bed in a country besides the USA (or if you are a US citizen who frequently travels to other countries) then that makes your choice quite obvious; You must buy the Global Kindle Electronic Reading Device.

Besides that, the biggest difference between the two is that of their sizes. The Kindle DX Wireless Reading Device is bigger as far it’s display size and it’s memory capabilities. It is also much larger as far as it’s costis concerned (as of now the DX costs more than $200 more than the Global Kindle.)

While the DX is 9.7 inches, the Kindle with Global Wireless is just 6 inches. The bigger display is most helpful with newspaper subscriptions (it makes it more like reading a real paper.) On the flip side, the smaller size of the regular version can make it easier to take around with you wherever you go.

There is also a substantial difference when it comes to memory capability. The Kindle DX Reading Device can hold over 3000 books, magazines, & newspapers while the other version of this gadget can hold about 1,500 books, magazines, & newspapers. But really, who has that many books?! Honestly, I have a very hard time imagining this extra space that the DX has is needed for the vast majority of customers.

Another difference between the two is that the DX has an auto-rotating screen so that if you flip the gadget on it’s side the screen automatically adjusts itself to be read horizontally (and automatically adjusts itself to be read vertically when you flip it back.)

The Similarities:

Both kindles can download from a selection of about 350,000 books, newspapers, and magazines which can all be bought for lower prices than their paper alternatives.

They both have a built in “text to speech” program which automatically turns all of your books into audio books.

Neither of these reading devices have any monthly charges to worry about. The wireless service is provided a lot like the wireless service for GPS navigational systems. Once you get the gadget the wireless just works, there’s nothing else to worry about and no bills to pay.

Both devices have a basic web browswer that lets you surf the web from anywhere. It should be noted that this browser is designed for text based sites such as Wikipedia and blogs. It’s not for pictures or videos.

Both digital book readers have a display that has no glare so that it reads like real paper. If you’re worried that reading this will be similar to reading your computer’s monitor then don’t be! It’s not like that at all.
